Marc Márquez has achieved a new victory today, the tenth of ten possible in the current season, equaling the marks of Giacomo Agostini and Mick Doohan, two of the most legendary riders in the history of motorcycling. The Italian won ten races in a row in the 1968, 1969 and 1970 seasons, when his MVAugusta had no rival on the track. The Australian, won the big prize ten times in 1998, when his Honda was the best bike on the grid. With only 21 years Marc is now one step away from beating those iconic brands, being the youngest driver ever to have achieved it. Within a week you will have the opportunity to add, in Brno, your eleventh consecutive win, an absolute record in the same season. Marc has also added the 500th victory of the Spanish motorcycling in the world, and the 100th in the queen category (read the information here)
It has not been Indianapolis, in spite of its remodeling, an exception in the plethoric and impeccable season that is being carried out by the young pilot of Cervera, who in addition to exhibiting a brilliant piloting, is showing himself as an invincible rival for his pursuers, that race to race see as the possibility that it wins the 18 great prizes of the course is, every time, closer. With the remodeling of the track, it seemed more favorable to the Yamaha, and it may be true that Jorge Lorenzo, who has reached 1.8 seconds of the Catalan, and Valentino Rossi, who has entered 6.5 seconds, have completed the podium. Dani Pedrosa, with a Honda like Marc’s, was fourth, 10 seconds behind his teammate, a distance that was difficult to understand. Marc leads the world with 250 points, full total, followed by Pedrosa (161), Rossi (157) and Lorenzo (117).
Few arguments seem to suggest that Marc will not win all the races of the course. His superiority is overwhelming, it is overwhelming. The race has not started well for Cervera, who despite being on pole has been overtaken by Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso in the first corner, with Lorenzo stuck to his wheel and trying to pass him.
The generalized choice of tires was the middle front and the hard behind, except Dovizioso who was half in both tires, and Pedrosa, who had the hard front and back (that may be one of the explanations of so much difference with Marc).
Valentino has thrown to death in the first laps, knowing that it was his only chance to win, go and keep the advantage. However Dovizioso has made it difficult and has bothered him for four laps, until it has happened, squandering a 0.8 advantage with Marquez, who was third. In one of these skirmishes, Valentino and Dovi have touched, what Marquez and Lorenzo have used to pass them, Valentino has rushed in the next corner and has recovered the second place, to the limit. The Italian has still managed to get back to Marc and take the lead, he went to the maximum, to the limit and he kept the first place until lap nine.
At that time Lorenzo has rushed a braking at the end of the straight to get first, but so tight that has gone a little long and Marc has overtaken him, leaving Valentino third. The Italian has still passed once more to Jorge to go for Marc, but there would be no opportunity.
On lap 11 Jorge almost fell, however he has maintained verticality but has lost a few tenths with Valentino. Marc was already escaped a half second from the Italian. In two laps the advantage has already gone to a second, Marc had a devastating pace and Rossi could not follow him. Behind Dovizioso, with the media, had already lost momentum, and Pedrosa had passed him to get fourth and go for Lorenzo. But the Mallorcan has recovered from the fall threat and on lap 14 has passed to Rossi, Marc’s advantage was already 1.2 seconds. Valentino has made a couple of attempts to reach his partner again, but he has not succeeded. Ahead Marc was already 1.7, there were ten laps to go.
It has been the last ten turns a Ferris wheel, in which no one has changed position. Marc leading with a stabilized advantage in the two seconds, Lorenzo second each time further away from Valentino; Pedrosa without being able to cut the Italian and, behind, Pol Espargaró and fifth after beating Dovizioso, who in turn has ended up being overtaken by Smith.
In the end Marc’s clear victory with 1.8 over Lorenzo and 6.5 over Rossi, calm and smooth triumph, absolute superiority and overwhelming dominance. The race, despite not being too broken, has suffered up to eight withdrawals, including those of Alvaro Bautista after a disastrous weekend, Aleix Espargaró, Héctor Barberá and the German Stefan Bradl.
