Márquez starts dominating in Texas

The debutant of the Repsol Honda Team has dominated the contingent of the premier class in the first weekend track. Márquez has led the FP1 of the Red Bull of the Americas Grand Prix from start to finish, with Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso behind him.

Márquez has placed very early in the head of the timesheet and has remained there until the checkered flag has fallen after gradually lowering his records and leaving the best in 2.08.756. The debutant’s record has not yet come close to his spectacular 2.03.281, scored a month ago in the private test held in this scenario, but has allowed him to master the initial assault at will.

Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing) has also finished his lap times throughout the 45 minutes and at the end he has stayed at 0.253s. of the pilot of Cervera. More distanced, Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) has signed the third fastest time, with 2.10.356, more than a second and a half from his teammate.

The differences of the following classified ones have been more substantial. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) was 4th thanks to his last lap and overtook compatriot Valentino Rossi (Yamaha Factory Racing), who started the weekend leaving his best record a little over 2 seconds behind the leader.

Álvaro Bautista (Go & Fun Honda Gresini) was sixth, ahead of Cal Crutchlow (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) and Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda). The German, one of the pilots who previously knew the track of Austin thanks to the private test organized in the preseason, has preceded Ben Spies (Ignite Pramac Racing), who made his debut at the home track scoring the tenth fastest time (more 4 seconds of the best reference).

Yonny Hernandez (Paul Bird Motorsport) has had a mechanical problem in his ART that has forced him to park the bike on the wall with just a few minutes to go. Despite the mishap, the Colombian has been the most prominent of the group of the CRT, 11th, preceding Claudio Corti (NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team) and Briton Bradley Smith, 13th with the M1 Monster Yamaha Tech3. Next came Colin Edwards (NGM Mobile Forward Racing Team) and the duo Power Electronics Aspar, Aleix Espargaró and Randy De Puniet.
