The Palau Sant Jordi will once again live in December one of the most exciting and uncertain duels of world motorcycling: SUPERPRESTIGIO DIRT TRACK.
Marc Márquez and the current No. 1 Dirt Track world, American Brad Baker, will face again on Saturday, December 13th, for the supremacy on the ground at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, which will undoubtedly be the revenge of the spectacular duel that both kept in the first edition.
More than 20 drivers of the World Speed Championship and three of the best American specialists, in the Sant Jordi
In addition to Marc Márquez and Brad Baker, who have already confirmed their participation, they have also announced their intention to do the following pilots: Tito Rabat (ESP, Moto 2), Bradley Smith (GBR, Moto GP), Álex Márquez (ESP, Moto 3), Scott Redding (GBR, Moto GP), Álex Rins (ESP, Moto 3), Mika Kallio (FIN, Moto 2), Álvaro Bautista (ESP, Moto GP), Johann Zarco (FRA, Moto 2), Jonas Folger (GER, Moto 2), Lorenzo Baldassarri (ITA, Moto 2), Julián Simón (ESP, Moto 2), Kenny Noyes (USA, CEV Superbike) Marcel Schrotter (GER, Moto 2), Xavier Simeon (BEL, Moto 2) , Niklas Ajo (FIN, Moto 3) and Enea Bastianini (ITA, Moto 3).
In the coming weeks, new confirmations are expected to reach and exceed the figure of 20 pilots in the category “Superprestigio”, reserved for speed pilots.
The event will also include the “Open” category, reserved for pilots from different offroad specialties (dirt track, enduro and motocross). In addition to Baker – the first Superprofessional driver – the participation of two other leading American drivers in the American dirt track championship is expected.
Dirt Track: a vibrant and dynamic spectacle
The Dirt Track is a competition that consists of a series of eliminatory sleeves, repesca sleeves and final races that face small groups of pilots (around 8) on a totally flat oval track.
Motorcycles are of type motocross, enduro or supermotard and, to guarantee the spectacle of the slip – main characteristic of the Dirt Track -, the motorcycles do not equip front brake. The obligatory tires are those of supermoto for wet asphalt (slicks and tires of tacos are not allowed).
Thanks to the vibrant rhythm of the competition – the race lasts only 2 minutes! – the Dirt Track is undoubtedly one of the most dynamic shows that can be witnessed with the motorcycle as the protagonist.
