Jerez hosts this weekend the fourth GP of the season , the first of the year in Europe. After his first victory of the season in the US, Marc Márquez arrives at GP Red Bull of Spain to a point of the leader of the overall standings, Andrea Dovizioso.
The reigning world champion finished in positions of honor in all MotoGP races he has played at the Circuito de Jerez to date: he triumphed in 2014, finished second in 2013, 2015 and 2017 and finished third in 2016.
Marc Márquez : “We came to Spain after a fantastic weekend in Texas where we got a great result, but now begins a new phase in Europe. We’ll see what level each team and each driver. Usually here the circuits are different and more traditional, starting with Jerez, which is closer, slow and difficult than Austin track. There we achieved a good set-up and now will be important to find a good base for tracks like Jerez. In late March we did a good test there and we will face this weekend with a positive mindset.
Running in front of all the fans from home and my fan club increases the good feelings and good vibes. We will continue to work hard and concentrate on being constant, a fundamental aspect in the fight for the title; I think ‘Dovi’ will be a great rival, as it was last year. Anyway, this year I feel very good on the bike: both in Qatar, Argentina and Austin had confidence and that’s the most important. We are only one point behind in the championship, so we have to continue like this “
