Marc Márquez (CatalunyaCaixa Repsol) does not miss the qualifying round and scores his fourth pole position of the season after prevailing ahead of Pol Espargaró and Thomas Luthi.
In another weekend of less to more, Marc Márquez (CatalunyaCaixa Repsol) has emerged timely in the qualifying session of the GP Aperol de Catalunya to sign the pole position for the fourth time in a row. The Lleida, who finished yesterday in a delayed 16th position, apparently burdened by a set-up in his Suter ineffective, reached this afternoon his cruising speed to sign a time of 1.46.187, only 195 thousandths faster than his rival Pol Espargaró, but enough to start from the best position on the grid.
Espargaró (Pons 40HP Tuenti) will defend his leadership, with a small point of advantage, from second place while Thomas Luthi (Interwetten Paddock) will complete that first line after scoring a record at 0.243s. of the world runner-up.
In the second row the Italians Andrea Iannone (Speed Master) and Simone Corsi (Came Iodaracing Project) found a gap. The first of them has missed the first row by just 47 thousandths of a second, while the Roman has stayed a little further, almost 7 tenths of Marquez. The second row is completed by the Swiss Dominique Aegerter (Technomag-CIP).
Very fast during all free rounds, Scott Redding (Marc VDS Racing Team) has lost steam in the QP and has had to settle for seventh place, heading a third line he shares with Spaniards Toni Elías (Mapfre Aspar Moto2) and Esteve Rabat (Pons HP Tuenti 40).
The session saw the falls of Ricky Cardús (Arguiñaño Racing Team), in an incident with the Japanese Takaaki Nakagami, and a new mishap of Julián Simón, who had already gone to the ground on Friday and in the morning session on Saturday. His third crash of the weekend has made it impossible for him to pass 17th place on the grid.
