Márquez’s overwhelming victory over Espargaró and a reborn Simon

Marc Márquez has achieved in Indianapolis a resounding victory, the 5th of the season, which increases his difference over Pol Espargaró to 39 points with 7 races remaining before the World Cup ends.

With Pol Espargaró and a reborn Julián Simón has completed the second Spanish triplet in the young category of Moto2, after the one achieved in this same circuit last season by Márquez, Pol Espargaró and Rabat.

The race itself has had little history; Ianonne was the first at the start and a disheveled Aegerter was ahead in a half lap setting a very strong pace to be the beginning of the race, which made him take a difference with the group of just over a second.

But Márquez, knowing that the pace of the Swiss was still slow, launched his attack and recovered ground to surpass him at the end of the straight when we had only disputed two laps.

Márquez then began to shoot in 1.43 and escaped without remission, adding almost a second per lap of difference with the group in the next 4 laps. Behind him, Pol Espargaró, who had an impressive pace in training, overtook the pilots who separated him from the leader, Simon, Iannone and Aegerter, to place second, but the distance was already insurmountable.

The pleasant surprise of the day came from the hand of Julián Simón, who also overtook Iannone and Aegerter and left in the wake of Espargaró, taking both a good advantage over their pursuers.

Márquez finally achieved a comfortable victory with almost 6 seconds of difference over Espargaró, who in turn had distanced himself 3 seconds over Simon, who had taken his first podium of the season for good and did not bother Pol.

Behind them, Kallio won the game to Luthi and Redding, with Aegerter, Corsi, Iannone and Corti closing the top 10. Rabat 11th, Terol 13th and Cardus 15th managed to score, with Torres 19º, Pons 22º and Elena Rosell who did not finish by fall.

Marc Márquez: “It was an almost perfect race, I saw that the pace was slow at the beginning and I decided to shoot. When I saw that the advantage was great I dedicated myself to maintain the concentration and the advantage, keeping the tires. It is very good for Spanish motorcycling this triplet. ”

Pol Espargaró: “I do not know what happened, the front wheel started to bounce and could not roll as in training. Anyway it was a carreron of Marc and Julian already deserved a result like that. ”

Julián Simón: “I’m almost more excited than with other successes I’ve had throughout my career. I’ve had a very bad time with the injury. The changes we have made this summer have been very good for me. ”
